Orthoses / Insoles

All our orthoses are custom made by hand ‘in house’ as we believe this gives the best support and control whilst also giving the best fit to the feet.  This custom approach also enables the fitting of orthoses into footwear with narrow midfoot areas, (trainers, football boots etc) or reduced internal volumes.  Off the shelf or machine made (3d printed, cad cam) orthoses often either have a compromised fit, compromised effectiveness, and cannot always be adjusted to fit in footwear properly.

We use two types of orthoses.

Bespoke utilising an initial ‘shell’ footbed.

These are highly effective particularly with more usual foot movement and shaping, are a little quicker to manufacture and fit, and are more cost effective accordingly.  These can usually be fitted in approximately one week assuming clinic availability.

Bespoke utilising a cast impression.

These orthoses provide an even closer fit, particularly effective for accommodating prominences and more complex foot shaping, posture and movement.  The increased complexity of these orthoses requires increased manufacturing time, and benefit from having footwear present during the manufacturing process.
